What happens when your B Visa runs out and you're waiting for your C?

Hi

Greetings from Zurich - Here's hoping maybe someone has had a similar situation.

Currently have a non-EU B which is good til the end of January and I'm off on business in February. Having submitted the documentation for an early C permit, I'm just wondering if I don't get my new card by the time my B runs out, do I have to request a special extension so I can re-enter the country?

I've searched here on the forum and online with limited success.

Any thoughts EF'ers?

Merci vielmal/Merci Beaucoup/Tanti Grazie/Takk Fyrir

I'm currently in the same situation as you, waiting for my C permit with B having run out on Monday. If you need to leave the country, you need to go to Migrationsamt ZH (Berninastrasse 45) in person with your passport and ask for a return visa. It costs 90 CHF and they issue it on the spot.

Quoting an official reply from MA ZH,
Quote:
