Facilitated Naturalization- What next post Police interview?

I am married to a Swiss for over 5 years now and lived here 8 years this year. I applied last September ( I am from the EU) and on Saturday just had my home visit by the Gemeinde Police.

It was about 20 minutes chat with us ( and they met our two young kids) about my life here, my work and some questions re Swiss history and politics etc. It was very informal and they didnt really want to much detail.. just to see that I knew some things about Switzerland. At the end they said they see no problem and it was all good. What I wonder is if the Gemeinde will also want to meet me. I asked and one of the Police men said he didnt know the exact process but the other said No normally they wont need to see you.

Has anyone any experience..? Just want to know if I need to prepare for anoth interview?

Re: Facilitated Naturalization- What next post Police interview?

Since you're doing facilitated this is the only interview. The Gemeinde doesn't have a say unless there's something really objectionable - such as you being a criminal or not paying your taxes. Next step = wait.

In a few months you might get a letter asking you to again sign that you're still married and living together, plan to stay married and living together, are in a conjugal relationship, etc. After that a few more months and you'll get a registered letter where you have to pay 800 Francs to the Post in order to pick it up. That's the letter saying it's a positive decision barring any objections. A little while longer you'll get another letter saying it's official.

My timeline from police interview to official letter was about 5 or 6 months, IIRC. My memory is getting fuzzy.

Did they arrive early at your home? The home visits are usually to ensure marital legitimacy, unannounced

For me this visit preceded an interview at the police station for less than an hour but certainly more than 20 minutes

They tried to just turn up at the door but we had already left for Christmas holiday. Our neighbours told us they seen the police. So they just rang me asking could they come by on a Saturday morning at 9am and then we had ths interview. I said I could some by the station when the called but they wanted to come to the house. they told me their part is complete now.

So there still is an interview ahead of you I believe but perhaps your canton has a different approach

Re: Facilitated Naturalization- What next post Police interview?

About 6 weeks after the interview part I got a letter requesting Betreibungsauszug (no debt) and a form for the tax office to fill out (no tax debt), both covering info for the last 5 years. Also I filled out a basic form that is supposed to be a CV. Sent off everything with a cover letter by registered post.

PS
I brought the tax form to the tax office in Zurich and received it filled out with sig/stempel in 4 days. Together with an invoice for CHF 75. Unexpected this was. For one piece of paper! I brought this piece of paper! I pay taxes! 10 years here and finally Switzerlanded.

Re: Facilitated Naturalization- What next post Police interview?

Hi

Recently I went through the normal naturalization and received proof from the canton that I am now a Swiss citizen. If I understood the question correctly, as far as I know the next steps shouldn't be much different to what I went through. Since you're married to a Swiss person after the interview you just have to wait and be patient. Unlike with me who got a letter saying when the communion will vote and whether they voted yes for me or not, you'll probably get the letter from the canton you're in with information about where you can get a Swiss ID card or Swiss passport and the proof that you are considered a Swiss citizen. Of course I don't know how it works exactly in Bern, since I did mine in Baselland, so I can only assume it'll be similar to what I went through. I hope this helps.

Basically you just have to wait an be patient. I had to wait half a year.
