| | Lost C permit this Friday in train, travelling abroad on sunday
Hi all,
I am an Indian holding C permit here.
Today I lost my C permit in train, and gave a complaint in Fund buro (they said it will take minimum 4-5 days if they find it). Unfortunately i have to travel urgently to India on Sunday.
I can't go to migration office since it will be closed and Is there anyway i could still travel??
I am deeply grateful for your advice.
Many Thanks
M

M | | | | | You must by law get a police report about the lost document.
Whether that helps you about your travels I don't know but it could.
edit: Actually you are registered as a C-permit holder, so if you got the police report on you when you return you will probably be ok. Ask the police.

Go to the police and report the stolen permit. It will cost 20 chf.
When you are back from India, take the report from the police, a photo and 60chf to the city chamber, and order a new C permit.
I do suppose you have a passport to be able to get into India?
Just show that passport on the way back.
You are by law not required to carry your C-Permit at all times. https://www.ktipp.ch/artikel/d/muss-...r-dabei-haben/ | This user would like to thank Helm for this useful post: | |

A bulletproof solution would be to go to a Swiss consulate in India and ask for a return visa. Depending on your canton, it could take from 1 day up to a week or so. That could be inconvenient depending on where exactly you are going to, as India is huge and I don't think it has more than a couple Swiss consular posts.

Are you flying out of Zurich? I've heard they can issue emergency passports for Swiss citizens there...maybe they can also issue some sort of return visa or letter as well? Not sure but it's a thought.

Download fill out and post forms for a replacement C permit.
Go to India on your Indian passport.
Ask someone to post the permit to you in India, which you then use to fly back in.
Airlines need a visa / permit to enter the country before you board. They will not accept a police report etc etc.

So from a practical point of view being able to show a residence permit would be the most convenient way of doing so.

Dear All,
I received a call from Basel Fundburo that they found my wallet and I went and picked it up in the evening. I can travel tomorrow thankfully.
Thank you all for your messages and suggestions. Grateful for your help.
Best,
M
