| | change of canton while unemployed for B permit non EU person
Hi all
I searched the old posts in the forum but only found posts of C-permit holder.
I am not working since Jan and receive the unemployment insurance in Geneva, I wonder if I can move to canton of Zug/Zurich while continuing to receive unemployment insurance payment before finding a job.
I have a B permit, NEITHER linked to canton NOR to employer but I hold a non-EU passport. I only lived and worked in the canton of Geneva.
Thanks for your insight and advice.

No, short answer.
" Art. 37 Change of the place of residence to another canton
1 Persons with a short stay permit or a residence permit who would like to relocate their place of residence to another canton must apply for the appropriate permit from the new canton beforehand.
2 Persons with a residence permit are entitled to move to another canton provided they are not unemployed and there are no grounds for revocation in terms of Article 62 paragraph 1." https://www.admin.ch/opc/en/classifi...232/index.html | The following 2 users would like to thank Medea Fleecestealer for this useful post: | |

Admission of to-be-resident foreigners is a cantonal matter, every Swiss residence permit is issued by a single canton and it is valid for that canton only.
And yes, you are not entitled to a canton change while unemployed. You may apply, but will in all likelihood be refused.

HR of my last company told me it was not linked to canton, I also asked the authority of another canton if I am allowed to work there and they confirmed. |

If you want to move to another canton you have to apply for a new permit - which can and would be refused since you are unemployed. The law is quite clear.
Obviously if you get a job offer in Zurich/Zug then you can apply for a new permit and it will likely be granted. But you can't just decide you want to move to another canton whether you're employed or not; it's always a case of applying for a new permit and waiting to see if it's granted or not.

Just info I glean from other websites. And I'm already a playtester and moderator on another forum - which keeps me plenty busy. Darn Korean spammers. |

A new expansion for the game was announced in March, to be released some time later this year so all the playtesters are waiting patiently (bloody impatiently actually ) to be let loose on it.
