| | Canton Vaud- Service de la Population - Letter requesting documents
Hi there,
* EU-B permit holder- permit about to expire in 2 years from now..
* Arrived in Switzerland 3 years ago. Have changed 3 cantons (in total 4 times).
Last week I received a letter from Service de la Population office, which read -
“You arrived in Switzerland on mmddyy and were issued the permit based on your job contract. However we got an information that you have been out of Job since mmddyy. So as per the rule<xxxxx> we will be revoking your permit after six months from the day you became unemployed Or if you are receiving unemployment benefits, then after six months from the day your unemployment payment entitlement ends. After this period we will revoke your permit and start the process for your removal from Switzerland.
If you want to dispute this, we will give you time till mmddyy to write us justifying why your permit should not be revoked. In order for us to understand your financial situation send us the following documents
- Letter of unemployment benefits entitlement
- all the previous job contracts
- De-registration from the ORP office (in case if you were previously registered with ORP office)
- Your last payslips “
...
I arrived in Switzerland 3 years ago. I had an unlimited contract and was issued a 5 yr B permit in Bern Canton. I worked in that job for 8 months and resigned as things were not going good. Was with RAV (in the German speaking part)- I was entitled for 260 days. In total I was with RAV for 5 months and changed Canton twice (Bern and Zurich)- of course with my RAV advisers`approval. Back then I did not receive any such letter. However within 5 months I received a 14 months job contract and moved to Canton Vaud. At the end of 14 months, I received an extension of another 6 months. However because of some internal restructuring, my client did not extend my job contract any further. So I became unemployed again and have been with ORP ever since . Because I completed the 2 years period since my first RAV/ORP registration And because I was continuously employed for 20 months, this time the ORP has approved fresh 400 days of entitlement (with 20 days waiting period). My new ORP entitlement ends 23 months from now (if I don't find a job by then).
So I just replied to their letter stating that I have Unemployment benefit entitlements till mmddyy and I attached a copy of that letter. Do you think this would suffice? Considering t+6 months, it will still be 2 years 3 months from now. I am sure I will find a job soon. But this particular letter made me worry a bit because in the past I did not receive any such letters while I was unemployed (in Canton Bern and Zurich).
Has anyone received such letters before? Is this specific to Canton Vaud?
Regards,
Gem

Permits are in short supply.

My guess, the new permit rules. If C permit holders can have their permits downgraded if they're on social aid (which would be your case once unemployment runs out) then B permit holders will have theirs revoked to avoid that happening.

Surely you can onlyhave a "B" permit if you have a job and once RAV (employer) period finishes, you have no permit, therefore no right of residence

A friend of mine´s RAV runs out, no idea though how long his C permit still is valid.

Actually there are tough conditions to actually come on Social aid- Bare minimum Bank Balance/Savings, no Home ownership etc.

b) most people have minimal savings
so, not so tough, in fact I know quite a few people who are, were, or will be on social aid.

Tom | | | | | None of the above holds true for EF members earning atleast 120K or is that now 140K | The following 2 users would like to thank ankurm.2008 for this useful post: | | This user groans at ankurm.2008 for this post:

Before the law changed people on long term social aid who also had C permits couldn't lose them, but now they can be downgraded.
Unfortunately, the links to the new laws don't work anymore. | The following 2 users would like to thank Medea Fleecestealer for this useful post:

And several who earned 2+ times that.
