Vague memory of a 2-week limit

Hi. A few years ago, when we first arrived, I recall that the border check at the airport included something regarding 2 weeks. Then when family visited, I think this came up again. Something like 2 weeks per year or per six-months. We have US passports, but maybe this question was asked before they knew our passports?

Anyway, if anyone remembers something like this or can clarify what might be limited to 2 weeks, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Residence registration within 2 weeks of entering with the intention of settling in Switzerland.
