C permit for EU postdoc

Hi all,

I am a British and I moved to Zürich for Postdoc (worked more than 15 hours per week) in Jan 2013 with B permit (Ausbildung mit Erwebstätigkeit).

During my stay in Zürich, I met my prince charming (Swiss). In Jan 2017, I completed my postdoc job and we planned to get married. I got a L permit (preparation for marriage) for 6 months. After marriage, I have a B permit yearly renewable (familliennachzug) and moved to Schaffhausen.

In Sept 2018, I found a full time position in Credit Suisse with no limit contract (permanent). From Jan 2017 - Sept 2018, I didn't work, I was improving my German and looking for job. I passed German test B1 and B2 during this time.

To summarise:

Jan 2013 - Jan 2017 : Postdoc(worked more than 15 hours per week) B permit (Ausbildung mit Erwebstätigkeit)
Jan 2017 - June 2017: L permit (preparation for marriage)
June 2017 - Now: B permit (familliennachzug)
Sept 2018 - Now: Permanent position in Credit Suisse

Question:
-I am eligible to apply for C permit since I stay in CH for more than 5 years continuously?
-Is my Postdoc period counted in my 5 years continuous stay?

I look forward to your kind advice.

Kind Regards,
Sally

Re: C permit for EU postdoc

Hi all,

I found this artikel:

Really sorry, my german is not very good. Do you think I have chance to get C, given that I only have a permanent job about 2 years after the my completion of post doc and with a L permit in between? Does it require a job right immediately the completion of post doc?

Since Brexit is coming soon, I think I should apply before Brexit. Otherwise, applications from the Uk's citizen application will be treated like the non Eu's applications?

Any advice is highly appreciated.

Kind Regards,
Sally

Re: C permit for EU postdoc

Yes, you are right. I can apply for a Swiss Passport through facilitated naturalization 3 years after I am married to a Swiss husband regardless of my nationality, right?

Or is it true that I must have a C permit before I apply for a Swiss Passport?

If yes, theoretically, am I eligible for a C permit as a EU citizen after living here for 5 continuous years in CH with some years of Postdoc permit ?
