I am Canadian citizen but living in Switzerland. I am traveling to the US in February therefore wondering if I need an ESTA to enter the US. I know generally as a Canadian you do not need one but because I’m overseas I’m wondering if it makes a difference. Just wanted to be sure so not faced with any surprises at the airport. Thanks

The advice from CIBT is as follows...

Canadian citizens do not require a visa to enter the US directly from Canada provided they can present proof of citizenship and photo ID at the US Port of Entry.

Canadians arriving in the US from a country other than Canada must carry a valid passport.
