Travel to Italy with temporary residence permit

Hello everyone,

My previous permit-B card was expired. Now, I am waiting for a new card. It is in the delivery process, I checked from the commune.
I wonder that can I travel to Italy by train with the temporary permit which was issued by the commune? In that document, it states that the new residence permit will expire in February 2020.

Thank you very much!

Its fine. Ive travelled many times with an expired permis and in the odd cases they have odd checks (odd as in Italy is within Schegen and so travel typically has no border controls anyways) I just say its processing and they wave me through. Just have your PASSPORT. Swiss permis are NOT recognized identity cards. Only Swiss IDs given to citizens are.

Do you have a passport that would allow you entry into Italy without a visa? If not I would be careful. The Swiss will likely accept the temporary permit, not so certain about other countries.
