Reason for quitting the job/Arbeitslosenkasse

Hi there! I’m dependent on my husband’s permit (B type, both non-EU). My husband got a new job in Zurich and we had to move from Neuchatel to Zurich. Due to this, I had to quit my job in Fribourg (commute from Zurich to Fribourg took 4,5 hours every day).
I have applied to RAV and am looking for a new job. My Arbeitslosenkasse sent me a letter asking about the reason for quitting the job. They are asking why I couldn’t stay and work in Fribourg during weekdays (Wochenaufenthalter) till I find a new job.
For me it was out of the question to stay away from my husband, because we are family and it is quite natural that we want to live together. Also, renting short term apartment would be rather expensive. But for Arbeitslosenkasse it might be insufficient reason for quitting a job.
Could anyone advise any good reason for not using Wochenaufenthalt?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Reason for quitting the job/Arbeitslosenkasse

The "I prefer to be with my partner" is indeed not going to do it. I think given that there are no medical reasons or kids that you'll just have to live on your husbands income till you find a job.

Actually, my question is what are OTHER good reasons?

Tell them that you couldn't afford to have two households, and that the commute would be excessive (more than two hours each way).

Re: Reason for quitting the job/Arbeitslosenkasse

Thanks for the idea, Tom. I thought about that. But Wochenauenthalt means that I stay during weekdays near my workplace ( no everyday travel) and come on weekends home. The doubt I have here is that they can say that my salary would be enough to pay rent and that it would be better than loosing job at all. So I’m not sure if this is an acceptable reason for them.

Re: Reason for quitting the job/Arbeitslosenkasse

What Tom said: you are not obliged to commute more than two hours each way, and maintaining two households is ridiculously expensive - it isn't just the rent, remember. I have discussed this at length with my RAV advisor, and he was at pains to explain what my obligations are, and where they end.

Not that I paid any attention, mind! (Currently commuting over five hours a day)

Enough to pay rent for BOTH places?

(or perhaps, 100% of your place, and 50% of the family home)

If not, then no.

You must have found your dream job if you commute over 5 hours a day?
I did 4,5 hours a day during my last 2,5 months and it’s not bearable.

It gets easier after the third month.

Re: Reason for quitting the job/Arbeitslosenkasse

Also, the 2 hour limit is based on via public transport, if it can be done in 30 minutes by car doesn't matter!
