| | Traveling to the UK with a dog
Does anyone have any idea what is going on with pet travel to the UK?
The UK government has a useful page ( link), but it's about travelling to the EU with a UK registered pet.
I have a German registered pet (no Swiss passport yet, but he's registered here too - his German passport has the rabies vaccine from >3months ago, but no titre test).
For a cat2 country (if the UK somehow manages to agree this):
How does the dog get a health certificate within 10 days of travel if he's in the UK for >10 days? Does that mean he needs to see a vet both in Germany and again in the UK?

They've put together a page for brexit (see link in my original post), but it's one sided... i.e. for people with pets IN the UK, wanting to goto Europe. No real guidance on people in Europe wanting to travel to the UK.
The European law is quite clear... it's the UK, post-brexit, law which isn't.
EDIT: Sorry, just read that a bit more... there's this: | Quote: | | | | UK nationals living abroad
...
If you have a pet passport issued by an EU member state, you can use it to bring your pet to the UK.
To return your pet to an EU country from the UK, you’ll need to ensure it has a successful rabies antibody blood test.
If your pet has a successful blood test before leaving the EU you will not need to wait the 3 months before travelling. | | | | | Which is odd as it contradicts the "official" pets and brexit page twice. Ugh.

Brexit in no way means that the English government will not respect the currently existing methods in place concerning animals entering the country and there is given the info provided by them no reason to think this is going to change, the question is how other country's will handle when going towards them from the UK. And the UK cannot predict how Switzerland for example will view the UK after a no-deal Brexit, you'll have to find info in Switzerland for this since it is the Swiss government deciding.

FWIW.....
travel to UK, just need the worming within 3 days of travel.
Coming back to CH, you are transiting EU to CH, I don’t think you’ll have an issue.
Yes, Project Fear will say you will have 6 months quarantine, but the Swiss are pragmatic, it’s the French at the port that may be the problem.
FWIW 2, I would not take my dog to UK and back unless i knew 100% that he would get back in the EU.

Going by plane or by car?
On a plane, flying from the UK you can apparently take a small dog or cat with you in the cabin (as long as you buy a seat).
(I have seen several people do this on the Swiss flight Manchester to Zurich!)
But coming back, apparently this is not allowed. They have to go in the hold. Something to do with animal import rules.
Unless that has changed recently?
Regards
Ian

Ian | | | | | Car, I'm not a small dog person and I outright refuse to put my dog in the hold. Used to work in the industry, and saw a dog crate left in the baking sun on a runway following a delay... no water, no shade. Despite repeated protests on my side, no-one seemed to do anything, or care for that matter. The protocol was to put cargo there until the plane arrived, and they were following protocol.
EU-CH isn't my worry, it's EU-UK and UK-EU. I used to travel pre-PETS scheme and it wasn't fun (tended to have to leave the dogs behind, which kinda sucks). I already have tickets for Easter booked, I wonder if DFDS will refund them in case I can't travel with the dog.
Or maybe just hope that the extension till June happens, and worry about what happens in summer |

The advice on pets travel was updated by the British Embassy in Bern last week... https://twitter.com/UKEmbassyBerne/s...86950559666176 | This user would like to thank Blueangel for this useful post: | |

I'm hopeful of the extention being approved, but that's still only 3mths and you may need 4mths to get things in order. I really don't understand why the pet passport scheme hasn't been rolled over exactly as it is, when it's such a simple and effective piece of legislation.

Sadly, it's too late for Easter - turns out that you need to wait 3 months after the titre test, even if the rabies shot was done >3 months ago (according to one page) in case the UK becomes an unlisted country.

From the embassy event in Vaduz, CH pet passports are classed as EU pet passports for all practical purposes.
I do, however, need to check the return into EU with EU/CH pet passport (thankfully I got a titre test done on the ship's dog as soon as he came to me, just in case, so that's not just 3/4 months old but nearly 9 years ago)
The relevant EU doc is here, page 12 is what applies to us: https://ec.europa.eu/info/sites/info...travelling.pdf |

No, so long as the rabies vaccination is kept in date

I don't know if that would help you to go ahead with the Easter holiday or not.
