working on a year project outside of Switzerland

I work for a Swiss company on a B permit and I'm taxed at source. I will be working in Spain for a year for this same company. But I don't want to be paying rent in Switzerland as well as in Spain. My question is; If I move out of my current apartment in Switzerland am I allowed to forward my mail through Swiss Post for the year? Or do I need to keep a permanent address in Switzerland?

I'd check your permit status with the cantonal migration office too since normally if you're out of the country for more than 6 months your permit will become invalid. Given the uncertainty over Brexit I'd find out more before deciding to move to Spain for a year.

Re: working on a year project outside of Switzerland

Thanks for the replies so far. I already asked the post office but couldnít really get a straight answer from them. And Iíll actually be coming back to Switzerland once a month or twice every couple of months. Iím wondering if maybe I should be looking to rent a room or a basement of a house, at least Iíd have a postbox as well.

A room in a WG is probably cheapest. And you'll still have to pay health insurance here.

Oh, sorry. WG is a room in a flat as opposed to the whole flat. I don't know the equivalent in French. It's common for broke students and weekly commuters who only need a place to crash during the week.

For example you can look for rooms on wgzimmer.ch

Also please keep in mind that while you are a official resident in Switzerland (holding a B permi) you still would need to declare your global income (Spain in your case) in the tax declaration that have to hand in to the Swiss tax authorities, and pay taxes accordingly in Switzerland.
