Residence Permit in Credit Card format for EU Citizens

It was announced end of 2018 that EU citizens would begin receiving their residence permits in a credit card format like those of non-EU citizenship (although without biometric features) from 1st July 2019.

https://www.admin.ch/gov/de/start/do...-id-73399.html

Has anyone renewed or received their first permit in this new format?

Re: Residence Permit in Credit Card format for EU Citizens

I got my renewal confirmation today and my permit is ready to pick up (B). In the letter of things to bring, it said one current passport photo. That smells to me like they're going to glue it in the book format, rather than the credit card format (which is a shame, I would have liked the small one).

Re: Residence Permit in Credit Card format for EU Citizens

The cc format cards have biometric info (picture, signature, two fingerprints) embedded. All of this needs to be captured at the Cantons bio-centres. So if you donít have an invite to visit this centre, you wont get a new one.

Or you could become Swiss, our ID cards are in this format.

Re: Residence Permit in Credit Card format for EU Citizens

I got the letter from the commune today! Come collect..

However - When i announced myself at the new commune, I told them we'd lost our permits - we have, possible lost, possibly in a removals box..

My letter today says - bring a photo each and the old permits, plus the cash.. Plus something else i can't read - looks like Pa2 jois 4 - i have no idea what it is.

So we see what happens after they re-open in 10 days.

You have reported the loss to the police? They could be asking for the police report.

I havenít actually .. I guess I should but we just assume they are in the house somewhere, we donít really take them out for anything..
I did tell the new commune and she was quite happy that I had a photo of them all, she just took an email with the photos.

Hey ho..

Re: Residence Permit in Credit Card format for EU Citizens

OH went to migration in Basel a couple of days ago as he'd had a letter about needing to renew his permit end of November. He assumes he'll just be getting the paper one. Worst bit about them is the plastic wallet they give you starts to disintegrate after a couple of years, and I'm too scared to go and ask if I can have a new one

Why be scared? It's just a plastic cover.

Re: Residence Permit in Credit Card format for EU Citizens

Apparently the new EU CC size permits wonít have the biometric data: Fingerprint, photo, signature digitally encoded.

What is the sense if that?

Re: Residence Permit in Credit Card format for EU Citizens

Not sure what the actual situation in Zug is, but according to theis SEM page cantons need to issue credit card passes by July 2021 - of course it would be good practice to do so beforehand...
