Hello, and welcome to the Forum.
I can understand that you are apprehensive.

Please scroll right down to the bottom of this page, and you will find some threads to read through, from others who have worried and waited, and discussed the same topic.

I do not believe that "no answer yet" means that your application has been rejected. It just does take quite a long time to process.

I hope things work out for you.

Hello Farhan,

Did you acknowledge the outcome of your visa application?

How long did it take?

Farhankhan 30.08.2019 13:24

Re: Student visa for non-Eu

actually my study visa approved from cantonal authorities and they send to SEM bern for approval.

The Sem bern object raised on my visa application like”you have already diploma at home which you enable professional active” .

but they still not reject my application they demanding my motivation on this objection .

please suggest me what should i do?

Re: Student visa for non-Eu

Explain your motivation in a letter. Detail why you need to get this degree in Switzerland and not elsewhere. Explain how it is different from the degree you already have. Prove that you're not just using studies as a platform to stay here long-term. Etc.

Re: Student visa for non-Eu

Thanks for response.
i have already write these point in my letter.

its possible after this motivation they will grant me visa because in letter they cleary mention that cantonal authorities approved you residence permit but we are planning to refuse your approval but in respect your right to be heard you have chance to motivate us.
they granst me 10 days for sending my motivation.

do you think after sending motivation will they grant me visa?

Sorry, but how would I have any idea about that?

It depends how convincing your arguments are. If the authorities seriously think you can study elsewhere or that this degree is not relevant, they will deny the visa. If you make a convincing case that this degree is necessary and that you're not just trying to find a way to stay in Switzerland, they might approve. Are you good at writing persuasive letters in German? I'm not! :o

Re: Student visa for non-Eu

Depends on how well you can write, explain things in words. And also how convincing your arguments regarding your case are.

Why you want to study a Master in Informatics.
How this helps and fits into your career path.
Why this change in major.
Why it is important to study it in Switzerland at the chosen university.
Why is it not possible to study in another country where it is cheaper and simpler to get a visa as a Pakistani.
Why can you not study in Pakistan?
How you see your future back in Pakistan
Have to proof that you will certainly, definitively, 100% sure, return to Pakistan.

PS: Do you have proof of enough funds to support your stay and study in Switzerland for the whole duration of the course?

PPS: I hope you are not older than 29 years old.

Hello,

after 5 months of my submission application SEM Bern sent me decision letter through swiss embassy. I request them to send me scan copy of my decision through email but they replied me due to data protection and security clearances we can’t send you scanned copy of your decision to you by email.

any one predict it my decision did they send rejection or approval letter?

I'm a bit confused now. When you applied for the visa, had you received admission to the university? It sounds like you applied for the visa before you even knew whether you were admitted...

Have you sent your appeal letter yet for the visa? Those 10 days are ticking.

Sorry, no one can say that. You´d need to pick up the letter, that is the only way to find out.

Has uni started yet or is this only later this month?

The Swiss Embassy in your country will receive the letter and then they will send you an e-mail.

Re: Student visa for non-Eu

Hello everyone,
my student visa was granted by Canton Ticino but at the time of approval from SEM migration they rejected my student visa reason raised that “ you have already bachelor degree which make you professional active in particular field also have job experience “
but i am going for master In software and data engineering and my bachelor degree was done in Software engineering.

what should i do?
in rejection letter they mention you may appeal against this decision in Federal administrative court within 30 days any chances in appeal because canton already granted my visa but sem rejected?

3Wishes 21.10.2019 20:21

Re: Student visa for non-Eu

As mentioned above, write a letter within the specified time frame. Spell out why you need to study for a master's degree in Switzerland as opposed to somewhere else, and why you need to study here when you already have a degree and a profession back home. It sounds as if you didn't fully address their original concerns in your first appeal, so they denied the permit.

Re: Student visa for non-Eu

thank you for reply.
actually i have bachelor degree in software engineering and i applied for master degree in software engineering. so as per my hunch they should not objection on this because in bachelor degree i have basic skill and i am going for master for advance skills

Farhankhan 22.10.2019 08:09

Re: Student visa for non-Eu

and it’s my first appeal because canton approved my visa but at the time of approval SEM reject my visa behind this reason.

Very true reasoning. Don't you think the authorities in Berne (SEM) also recognise this?

Yet they refuse.

The reason probably lies somewhere else. Often it's financial resources that you have shown while applying - sufficient but not enough to attract you back to your homeland. SEM fears that you will join the job-seekers once you complete your masters.

Also. bear in mind that even after you complete your Masters, and even if do manage to get a job here, the potential employer will have to reprocess you permit as Non EU. Not easy.
