Time frame of travel for the dependents once the visa is issued.

I've processed visa for myself (L Permit - Non EU) and dependents together.
I've planned to travel alone to Geneva first and my spouse and child will be traveling a few months later.

I would like to know if there is any restrictions on the time frame of travel for the dependents once the visa is issued?
Can the dependents travel anytime before the expiry of the visa?

Thank you.

The only restriction is that they must enter Switzerland before the visa expires. Then you go and register them at the municipality.

Not quite, they cannot enter Switzerland before the visa is valid (date of entry) and the must LEAVE before the visa expires !!

Failure to leave at the right time will result is a big black mark against you, in Schengen countries and elsewhere and will make getting visa's very difficult in the future.

Sorry, I think you're mixing two things. You're right that they can't enter before the visa is valid.

However, as a visa is only for entry and not residence (in Switzerland anyway), they don't have to leave again before it expires. They need to get registered at the municipality before the visa expires.

Family reunification visas are usually good for a few months, to give the family time to get here.

It's rather they have to register within 1 or 2 weeks (I forget the exact timeframe) from arriving in CH. It should be completely fine to arrive on the last day the visa validity and register a week later.

I believe the D visas for initial entry are usually issued for 3 months' time.
