new facilitated naturalisation, anyone?

hi all

Has anyone here applied for facilitated naturalization (post-2018 protocol) while living in Switzerland?

Have you received any news about it? have you been interviewed yet?

I applied in late 2018 and it's been a full year and no news whatsoever. All I got was an early confirmation letter from SEM Bern that they had received my papers.

tnx

imct

Re: new facilitated naturalisation, anyone?

yes they finally called me for an interview at the OCP in Geneva with my spouse, we had a chat and a quiz about local traditions-culture-politics. They were very nice and kind with me throughout all the procedure.
Then you still have to wait a few months for the papers to be finalized. All in all the process takes anywhere from 18 to 24 months from start to end.

all the best,
i.

Sure glad I did it 10 years ago. One guy came to my place and after a nice chat and a cup a' and biscuits he left very happy!

Can you also tell what all papers did you have to submit.

I should be starting my process soon but in Canton of Vaud

Thanks

Re: new facilitated naturalisation, anyone?

I'm sorry, I was old protocol.

But I'll share my facilitated naturalization timeline in case it helps re-assure others, as I found it very helpful when others shared:

I started my 11-years-married, marriage-facilitated naturalization process outside Switzerland in June 2017, with interview and written geography and history test in German, French and a little Italian at the Swiss consulate end of July.

Then moved to Switzerland end of 2017, applied for family re-unification B-permit from our current residence canton and waited. 7 months after applying for family re-unification B-permit got it.

For citizenship application, waited til April 2019 to receive request for further information (e.g. proof that I was still married to a Swiss citizen, copy of my current resident permit in Switzerland).

June 2019 invited to go into local comune of residence for a pleasant interview, asked questions about integration, language, marriage relationship and whether I had ever worked as a prostitute (the official apologized, saying it was written that they had to ask this -- I guess it wasn't my gigolo good looks).

December 2019 I was asked to sign that I hadn't committed any crimes since the time of my original application's police certificate from prior country, and that my wife and I were still married and had no plans to divorce.

End Jan 2020 was informed in a letter costing Frs 200 to collect (because I had changed from outside-Switzerland to inside-Switzerland application which is more expensive) that the Federal government had decided in favour, I had only to wait for wife's 'heimat' canton (separate from current residence canton) to exercise their right to object.

Beginning of March received notice from my local comune that I had been entered in to the local registry with rights to vote federally, cantonally, comunally, along with voting papers for the upcoming April 2020 comunal elections. Next business day received official word from the Federal government that full citizenship had been granted. Proudly voted already.

I guess that means 2 years, 9 months.

Re: new facilitated naturalisation, anyone?

We applied in Jan 2019, we got an acknowledgment within a couple of weeks and then were asked to submit the usual list of documents to be submitted ( list is available online ). Then nothing happened for 6-8 months. Then in Q3, we got an invite to appear for the written test which we took in early Dec 2019. We got an invite for late Jan 2020 for an interview, followed by 2nd interview by Geminderat. Within a week we got the confirmation that our citizenship is accepted at Geminde level and they have forwarded the file to Kanton. Now we are waiting to hear from Kantonal office. Documents: You can find "Dokumente für das Einbürgerungsgesuch" on www.gaz.zh.ch or https://gaz.zh.ch/internet/justiz_in...eformular.html

That sounds more like regular, not facilitated.

Re: new facilitated naturalisation, anyone?

Hello ydm,

thanks for sharing your experience. I have my FIDE exam early June, now that they have started again.
Can you share a bit more about your appointment in Vaud? Did you have to write a test or it was just a discussion.

The interview was very casual. A few questions on what I do in my free time, why do I want to live here, amd then a test from the questions posted. 20 min in total.
