C permit for my son

Dear all,
My son and I (dual US and Italian citizens) arrived in VD this August.
I applied for our C permits directly at my commune (I qualify for one immediately because of my job) on August 12th. My permit arrived over a month ago, but my sons has not arrived yet.
Is this normal to have so much delay for him? Should I follow up and if so do you know with whom? Thank you.

Re: C permit for my son

Why would you get a C permit straightaway? B permit yes, but C permits require 5 years of residency in Switzerland, even for EU nationals.

Professors at a uni get a C immediately I think, maybe there are some more exceptions but these are few

Re: C permit for my son

Just in case someone wonders: OP is most likely a professor at EPFL. At least this one possibility to get an instant C.

If I understand it correctly if the son is under 12 years old, he should get C as well, otherwise he might get only B.

Re: C permit for my son

We were in the same situation when we arrived in Switzerland and all our children (all of them were younger than 12 at that time) received a C permit together with my husband. I can’t remember if there was delay of a few days.

Two of our kids are also dual US/German citizens, if that makes a difference.

Keep a link to the SEM handbook, the law, and the ordinance and consult them if in doubt or in general to be sure you got it correct.

Re: C permit for my son

It's just something that gets mentioned here so rarely I forget it's a possibility.

Re: C permit for my son

Just a quick update that we finally got his permit. They sent us a letter in late December asking for further documentation. Once we mailed that, we got the permit 4 days later
