Family reunification India

Hello,
I have been working in Switzerland for two years and I got married last month. I am on a B permit and currently I am working on getting all documents for my wife to bring her here.

In India they have asked for both home state attestation and Apostille for civil status documents (Police clearance, marriage certificate, an affidavit for the name change). Since the state govt is highly corrupt we had to approach an agency for this job. Even they charge 10000 INR per document in Bangalore for State+Apostille and a solid 30 + 5 days. They mentioned that home state attestation is not required and people did not get it for their Swiss applications. It applies only for certain states and also the PCC cannot be verified by the state as it was provided by the RPO which is a central govt entity. But Swiss embassy in Delhi is asking for the home state attestation.

In addition to this, the Embassy is asking the "voluntary verification" form to be signed. But I understand that it is optional and since it costs 800 CHF more can I opt out of it? I dont see the reason to waste 800 CHF and 3 more months by opting for it.

Q1 Do I have to opt for the home state attestation? Has anyone applied and got the VISA without it?

Q2 Can I just opt out of the voluntary verification?

Q3 Does any of my document require any form of attestation?

Q2 - when embassy asks you to do verification, it's better to do it (as in this case,.there is a 99% chance that Cantonal authority will later ask it based on embassy's remark. It would take 4 months as documents would have to be returned back from Switz.

Q3 - Add new birth certificate of both of you - state attestation & then apostilled by centre

Thank you IndiSwitz

For my birth certificate I managed to get one that is not older than 4 months. But I was born in Maharashtra and I live in Tamilnadu. In this case, do I have to get it attested from Maharashtra?

It should be from the state where you have received your birth certificate. For central govt apostille, talk to one of the five authorized agencies to get it done. I did with the help of Alhind tours & it costed hardly 500/- including courier charge.

Re: Family reunification India

Hello,
After getting the home state attestation apostille by MEA is streamlined and if you pay online through bharathkosh.gov.in and submit by 10am you can collect it by next day evening
PCC is already a document by RPO/MEA. So it need not be apostilles . This info was given by embassy at delhi
