legalization for an european child birth certificate of Indian national.

I need help in legalization process when applying for EU Country work visa> 365 days..
I work for an IT company and my company is applyingformy long term work visa along with family. i hold indian passport.

I had been to Schengen country earlier also where my son was born in Switzerland. He has his birth certificateissued by Canton of Zurich.

Does he also need to legalize his birth certificate for visa stamping ?How can Govt of India legalize a document not issued by them ? Indian documents need to be legalised.

Since the birth certificate is issued by EU country it should not require further legalization ?
I am confusedand no where I can find answer Can you pls help ?

Please check again. You say the birth certificate was issued by the Canton of Zurich. But also that there is a birth certificate issued by an EU country.

Does the boy have TWO birth certificates (one Swiss, one EU)?

If he has only one, then please note that Switzerland is not an EU country.

I realise that doesn't answer your actual question, and set it out, here, because it may be relevant to someone else who can answer and tell you what to do.

Re: legalization for an european child birth certificate of Indian national.

By legalized, I presume that you mean Apostillaed?

If so, this can only be done by the state offices of the issuing canton, in this case Zurich. (here, I need to get it done in Bellinzona, for example).

Note that this can be done by mail, it is not necessary to go there yourself.

Cost is about CHF 30.
