Concubine Visa experiences

Hi,
I'd like to know, from people that went through the process to get a Konkubinat Visa for a non-EU non-married partner

- In which Kantons they requested it (information online is conflicting...some sources say that only a few cantons, like ZH of GE, allow it, other sources say that you can request it in any canton)
- How long they had been with their partner, and how they demonstrated that the relationship was long-term and leading to marriage
- Tips, things to be aware of

Thank a lot

Re: Concubine Visa experiences

Anybody had any experience, or can recommend an immigration lawyer to get more info?

Most cantons do NOT allow it.

Re: Concubine Visa experiences

Likely you will find the answers by discussing this with your local contrôle des habitants.

Re: Concubine Visa experiences

This is the answer I received from the Zurich Migrationsamt. Did I understood correctly, and they do allow a Konkubinat to be relevant for the purpose of migration?
I also contacted the Bern authorities, but as I expected, they answer instead negatively.

Looks that way. Just realize that if you go that way, you will be financially responsible for your girlfriend for the next 5 years.

1) The Foreign Nationals and Integration Act (FNIA) https://www.admin.ch/opc/en/classifi...232/index.html which does not know a concubine visa or permit thus such a permit is an exception to the established rule.

2) The result of the MEI. The people in the green marked cantons are against unlimited immigration https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eidgen...%BB#Abstimmung
It is safe to assume that the authority and government in those cantons have a similar stance and will not allow immigration beyond what the FNIA mandates. Btw: Although red on the above map, VS has usually also a hard stance against immigration. VS is also deeply Catholic. An other reason that they might not issue concubine permits.
