Fide exam and new naturalization process steps

Hi,

Anybody has any experience how the fide French oral B1 exam is like?
1) how long is it for?
2) what kind of questions are asked?
3) what’s the passing marks? Like in Delf you need 50 to pass but you need to pass in all sections.

After filing the naturalization what are the new steps in Canton of Vaud? Do you still appear in the commune (terre saint région) for an audition and what kind of questions are asked in that?

Thanking you.

Re: Fide exam and new naturalization process steps

Fide is only one of many options. As it is only good for Swiss residence permit and naturalization purposes its usefulness is limited.

Also accepted are: DELF, Test d’évaluation de français (TEF), Diplômes de Français Professionnel des Affaires, TCF (uniquement avec épreuves complémentaires).

The fide exam takes about 40 min for the oral part and 60 min for the written part.
The regulations https://www.fide-info.ch/doc/08_Spra...LangueFide.pdf , a mock exam https://www.fide-info.ch/doc/08_Spra...xamenBlanc.pdf and its solution https://www.fide-info.ch/doc/08_Spra...xamenBlanc.pdf can be found on the fide website.

Re: Fide exam and new naturalization process steps

I took the Fide tests in Lausanne in July 2018. I was interviewed by a man and a woman together for the oral part, they were both very friendly and put me at ease straight away. First they asked me to tell them a bit about myself. Then we listened to audio recordings and they asked questions about what I had heard, to test comprehension skills. If you have the required level the tests are not hard. The grading is on a percentage but I don't know what the minimum is that you need to pass.

For the rest of your question read my post in this thread linked below where I have described the steps of the naturalization process in Vaud. Just to add that the birth certificate needs to be translated as well as notarized, no older than within the last 6 months of them requesting it.

Re: Fide exam and new naturalization process steps

I took my FIDE oral and written exams in July 2018. As Serena said, I was also tested for my oral skills by a rather friendly man and a woman. They first asked me to introduce myself. I was then asked to identify the correct response following some audio excerpts. The whole test, which lasted about 45 mins., is all about basic day to day conversational French - very straightforward.

For the written exam, I was again asked to identify the correct response to some basic questions - multiple choice to test your reading comprehension. I was also asked to compose some basic pieces of text - like writing an e-mail. Again, very straightforward.

I'm not sure of the passing marks - but, I can assure you that it is really hard to botch it up!

The audition with the Municipalite depends on your commune. Mine decided to do away with it and I just took the written exam.

All the best with your naturalisation process!
