Work/resident permit - EU national - what documents - BERN

Hi,
I managed to sign a contract to work for a company located in Bern with a permanent contract.

They told me to apply for the residence/work permit 14 days before the starting date with the following documents:

Work contract (original) if the contract is older than 1 month the confirmation of your employment from HR is needed
Valid travel document (passport or ID)
1 Passport picture
Family booklet: marriage certificate/accompanying children birth certificate (if applicable)

Are the above documents sufficient ? I read about people talking about birth certificates and on some websites mention a rental contract.

I was about to book an apartment with AirBNB but this "rental contract" information really blocked me.

I will doublecheck with the immigants office next monday but if somebody could provide a feedback it would be appreciated.

Thanks

Whether you need a rental contract (if you are renting) will depend on the location - and not just the canton - it can vary even from place to place.
I've never needed to provide one.

Things may have changed but where I am (ZH Kanton), it was the other way around. I needed to produce a work contract to get a rental contract. Regarding Gemeinde registration, at the time I was staying in a short-let furnished apartment and they were happy with that. The work contract was more important to them as it showed I had a source of income. Birth certificate should not be needed as your passport is sufficient proof of d.o.b. and nationality.

If in doubt, ask the Gemeinde.

thanks for your feedback.

I called the immigration office this morning and they confirmed the requirements

Note:
-the authorisation required for contracts older than one month is an additional letter/document provided by the HR.
- if all the documents are in order, the work permit should be released the same day.

Cheers.

Marco.
