Visa for spouse as visitor and then later dependent

Hi All,

I will be visiting to Switzerland on L permit, for 3-4 months (this may extend for another 4 months).
I am married but due to some reason my company is not filing dependent visa of my wife along with me. It is said by them, it will be filed later when I get RP card or something like that.

My question is, can I take my wife on tourist visa or visitor visa ? And when I have to apply her dependent visa she will come back to India, will this violate the no two visas processing clause? Can I do this way? Or is there any other way?

Thanks, for your help.

Yes she can visit as a tourist and then return and apply for family reunification.

However family reunion visas can take months to get approved, if you are only here for a short time, she might spend most of that time in India waiting. I'd push for your employer to apply now. Or she could just come as a tourist for a time in the middle of your stay.

Welcome to the forum.

To be honest for that short a period I seriously doubt a dependent's permit would be granted. Your L permit contract simply isn't long enough, even if it gets extended. Since she can come and visit you for up to 3 months on a tourist visa, there's simply no point in granting her a permit.

If she comes as a tourist, make sure she has travel insurance with good health coverage since she won't be covered here, not being a resident of Switzerland.

Also make sure that she follows the rule of 90 days in, then 90 days out as a tourist.

It might be better to have her visit for part of the time on your first contract (but not all 90 days at once) and then return home. That way if your contract gets extended, she can visit you more than once during your time here.

If you use up all 90 days at the start, she wouldn't be able to visit again until near the end of the second contract.

When you receive authorisation or submit passport for D-visa stamp, submit application of visitor visa of your wife.

Nope, at least in India tourist visa is granted for maximum 30 days while visitor visa is for maximum 90 days for Indians.
