UK Citizen:Swiss Citizenship in Oberwil

Hi There,
Can anyone share any tips and advice on the Swiss citizenship process in Oberwil, Baselland.
I submitted my application in Dec 2019 and I know itís a VERY long process.
Apparantly SID are in their investigation phase. What does this mean, what exactly are they investigating here in Switzerland/and or UK? Its uncomfortable knowing these guys are investigating you or am I just worried for nothing?
Any tips on standard questions asked in Oberwil, Baselland?
Any advice would be very much appreciated.

You are worrying over nothing. And less than 3 months is hardly any time. They probably haven't even looked at your application yet.

All they do is check your provided documents, police record, your debt record, verify you meet residency requirements and maybe interview a few of your referees. Then you'll be invited for interview at the community offices and tested on your knowledge of Switzerland, Baselland and Oberwil (geography - like biggest lake, mountain - history and political system). Some time later, you'll be invited for interview in Liestal to talk about how integrated you are. Integration so far as I can tell for BL, simply means you don't live in an isolated expat ghetto, you use local services from time to time, and you pay your taxes regularly. They'll also consider your economic and familial ties back to your original country - most likely by asking you.

The way it works is that there is one person in Oberwil council who is responsible for processing citizenship processes - first Thursday of every month from 10am to 11am. It's a shame if they're on holiday during that time. Outside of that slot, they do other things.

There's one person who does something similar in Liestal.

Finally, if Oberwil is anything like Binningen, they meet twice a year to vote on discuss citizenship applications in the council - a month or so later, it's put to tho the residents in a public meeting.

And that is why it takes so long.

I may be exaggerating a little, but basically, they're in no hurry. It took my daughters about two years from submitting application to being notified that they'd been granted citizenship of Binningen.

Thank you so much. This is a big help

Does the Gemeinde send you revision documentation before you attend the interview at the community offices or should I just prepare beforehand by looking on the internet? Is there a list of typical questions for Baselland?
