help navigating the civilamtstand to apply for mairrage preparation.

Hi
I am new to this site, I am applying for a marriage "license" in Melligan and a D visa Canton of Aargau. My fiance is French with a B visa for work and has lived her for 3 years. I am a US citizen applying for a 6 month visa while I am here visiting. The problem we are having is understanding what forms are acceptable. It seems the geminderhaus has accepted all of our documents in English without a problem. The civilatmstand office is requesting translations of the documents and originals not copies. Is that just a judgement call of the person behind the desk? Do we need an interpetor for the appointment? Where might I find an individual for an hour appointment? Also where might I go to have the documents officially translated without it being a corporate swiss price? Any advice is much appreciated.
Thanks,
D

Normally they accept documents in English, I didn't have to translate my birth certificate. I did have to get a new birth certificate though, as it had to be less than 6 months old.

My husband did all the speaking for us, but he speaks Swiss German and our town is Swiss German speaking, if your fiancee doesn't speak German, you'll need to check if they are happy doing the appointment in French or English.
