Re-enter visa from abroad for permit holder?

Hi, I'm a non-EU nationality who has a permit B. My permit will expire on 5th April 2020, and I have renewed it but the new one has not arrived. Now I need to go back to my country (Vietnam) due to an emergency (non-coronavirus related), just a family emergency. I know I can apply for a re-enter visa from the canton office (Vaud). In fact I did that before but as I remember they only give me 1 month of multiple entry. What I'm afraid now is that due to the coronavirus situation, maybe I won't be able to come back to Switzerland in 1 month and thus my re-enter visa will expire.

Do you have any suggestion for this? Maybe I will need to apply for an entry visa from the Swiss embassy in my country? Would the process be long (a few weeks at least like the first time I came to Switzerland?). Any help will be very appriciated. It's been so stressful will my family problem and the permit renewal thing already, now the virus is coming in to the play...

Re: Re-enter visa from abroad for permit holder?

You can go to a Swiss consulate in Vietnam and apply for a D visa to return to CH. They'll ask the Vaud authorities for permission to grant this visa which they will grant if your permit was extended. It might take a couple of days.

I've been in a similar situation with my permit stolen in Hong Kong, I went to the consulate next day and had the visa stamped the day after.
