Working in Switzerland and living in Germany

Hi, I am creating this post because I have been trying to find information on an official Swiss website and couldn't find it.
I am contacting the authorities but meanwhile, I would like to know if anybody here had a similar experience.

Let's suppose that a person has a residence permit B, she is from England, and has a job contract in Switzerland. She wants to rent and live in Germany and commute to her work in Switzerland daily.

Some people told me: because of your residence permit, you HAVE to live in Switzerland. Some other people told me that this is irrelevant, you may want to travel from Japan every morning if you want.

So I am trying to get an official answer to this. Do you have any experience on this? any link to share?
Thanks!

Welcome to the Forum. I don't know the answer and it might change with all the Brexit stuff, so have a bump and someone more knowledgeable should be along soon.

Re: Working in Switzerland and living in Germany

You would need a cross border worker permit G instead of permit B.
Permit G is easy to get for EU/EFTA citizens and not so easy for all others.

As 3Wishes says. The big question is how UK nationals are treated. Now and in the future.

If you intend to live in Germany and work in Switzerland you should be aware about all the formalities and pitfalls with health insurance and tax.

Could work if you move to Germany now and get a permanent residence status there and apply for a G permit beginning of November and don't work here in between.

Afaik you get a permanent residency only after 5 years? As long as OP moves while the UK is still considered EU this might work

Yeah, my fault I was running ahead of a possible new status of England.
