C permit and Work location/contract

Hi all

What Swiss C permit allows from work/job perspective?
1. If you get job from outside Switzerland countries, and if that company allows you to work from home, can you continue to stay in swiss with work contract from diff country?

2. If you get job from outside Switzerland countries, and if that company allows you to be flexible to come to office /say not every day.. can you to work from switzerland and visit the country of the job say few times (as needed)

What else swiss C permit gives flexibility with work location/keeping family in swiss etc?

Re: C permit and Work location/contract

1. Yes

2. Depends on the other country's employment regulations.

Neither option is specific to a C permit if you're an EU national; you could do the same with a B permit. Even with an open B permit a non-EU national could do it probably.

Re: C permit and Work location/contract

Thanks,

Interesting , So Having C Permit with and without EU Passport still brings many differences then.

Not sure if one is allowed to live/keep their families here in Switzerland when none of your family member is working in Switzerland. for EU or non EU

Especially for non-EU could be challenging?

I think even C Permit needs renewal every 5 years.. and needs confirmation that you are working in Switzerland (like they ask for B permit renewal)

Re: C permit and Work location/contract

As said, not specific to C permits. Only a tied non-EU B permit would restrict you in the way you suggest.

For EU nationals so long as they earn enough to support their families it doesn't matter much who they work for. For non-EU's it would be up to the cantonal migration office to accept a change from a Swiss employer to a non-Swiss one, but if you have a C or an open B permit and the salary is enough then it shouldn't be a problem to have it accepted.

Yes, a C permit is renewed every 5 years as is an open B permit. If they've already accepted you working for an employer outside of Switzerland, again it shouldn't be a problem to renew providing salary, accommodation, meet their requirements.

You need to watch out in case the other country decides you are liable for taxes.

Sure, that is normal Swiss residency. You would be subject to Swiss social security etc (Search for ANOBAG ). And as usual Swiss taxation includes world wide income while you are a Swiss resident.

So many wrongs.
With permit C you have free choice of employement, you can even be self employed. Nothing to be approved.

Furthermore, permit C is not renewed. It is forever (till you leave the country). You only need to get a new permit card every so often.
