Currently I am on a project and soon I will be transferred to Lausanne from Zurich. So that my employer applied Vaud work permit for me. I read that the person needs to apply for permit to residence in Vaud before moving. So I contacted both Lausanne commune and immigration office both. The Lausanne commune sent me a list of documents to prepare. So I would like to ask, is it correct to send the documents to the Residence commune first to get the residence approval? What is the next step? The immigration office just sent me a link for information, shouldn’t I get the approval from Vaud immigration office first before moving?

Also, my work permit is issued by Vaud labor office, but i hold residence card L from Zurich, does it matter the permit is L or B, if my work location and granted project is in Lausanne? Because I read it on immigration office website: L permit holder doesn’t have the right to apply for change of canton.

Have you figured out your previous situation yet with switching from Bern to Zurich, and now you again want to switch from Zurich to Vaud? This is likely to raise some eyebrows at the migration offices involved.

Having applications out all over the place could get complicated, both for you and your employer. They need to figure out where they want you, and apply to the cantonal migration office. If you're on an L permit that might not even be possible. Your employer has to do the work, you can't do much.
