Moving personal goods to Zurich - paper needed

Hi all,

My move has progressed to the stage that we are now packing, and I am 2 weeks away from my work start date.

I've boxes most of our stuff up and found a moving company, they seem to know what they are doing, but they are asking me for the following to be able to transport my stuff to Zurich:
Signed declaration form (original) - please see attached

Work contract (copy)
Permit from the commune (copy)
Rent contract from flat, house or apartment. (copy)
List of personal effects. (copy)
Passport (copy)

One of the main things they are asking me to fill is this form, besides an inventar as well:
Zollveranlagung von Übersiedlungsgut (Umzugsgut) www.ezv.admin.ch › ezv › Formulare

I have all of the above EXCEPT for Permit from the commune (copy) (which I think is the B permit).

What experiences have people had with this?

I am travelling on the 15th to register locally and get my permit but as far as I know it can take a few days and hence I will have to be there with an empty apartment for 1 week or so ..and my family will be in the UK waiting for a copy of the permit so they can give it to the driver. I find it a bit ridiculous hence the ask.

While you'll be able to register I seriously doubt you'll get a permit very quickly. They've only just started working on clearing the backlog of applications from the last few months. What you should get is a document saying that you've registered which should be good enough for the moving company. A copy of the application form might also be a good idea to send to them too.

Great idea, thanks so much! This make sense, I will do this once I arrive.

I also don't think you necessarily will need a permit.
Not sure if it is any different when using a moving company, but assuming you would pack all your stuff in the car and drove here, assuming you are a UK citizen (or EU/EFTA), the Swiss customs website says:
Immigrants from the 25 initial EU states and from the EFTA states do not have to provide assurance of a residence permit. They provide proof of the transfer of domicile using other means (employment contract, lease, confirmation of notice of departure from the country of departure).

Many thanks, I will talk to the moving company tomorrow.
As a backup, I could then have the proof that I've applied for the permit on Monday.

BTW, I called today, and they mentioned that the moving company will NOT be stopped if I am missing the residence permit.

Worst case scenario is that you will have to pay a provision which will be returned once you provide a copy of the permit.
