Keeping C permit when abroad

I have been granted an extension on my C permit, due to taking a temporary job (1 year) abroad.

I presume that the advantages are that I can move back to Switzerland after the year if the job is not extended.

However, are there any disadvantages? Do I still have to complete CH tax return / pay CH taxes?

Thanks!

Re: Keeping C permit when abroad

Do you mean extension as it won't expire until a later date, or have you received permission to put the permit on hold?

There not many reasons why you can put a C permit on hold, but one of the reasons is that your employer sends you abroad on a job assignment. If you found another job and want to try it out, that's not a reason the authorities will accept.

If the employer is sending you abroad, then you'd be allowed to put the permit on hold for up to 4 years while you're abroad. You can then return to Switzerland and have the C permit again.

I don't know about taxes so I'll let someone else answer that.

Re: Keeping C permit when abroad

Thank for your reply :-)

Yes, sounds like 'hold' is a better way of describing it.

Normally one has to give up their C permit when you leave Switzerland. I have been given a date in one year, within which I think I could move back and continue living with the C permit.

Just wondering about tax or other things whilst I'm out of the country.
