Moving to Vaud Canton from Germany

Hi everyone,

I just a few questions I wanted clarified.

When completing the "Customs clearance of household effects
in connection with household removal" form for moving into Switzerland, is this limited to furniture and appliances? We have some new bikes and an electric keyboard that I am not sure whether or not they come under "household effects".

Do I need to present receipts for items over 6 months old or is more of a declaration than an inspection?

On the day of arrival, I will travelling with two other people who are helping me move. We are all EU citizens. Provided we bring passports and my other papers, should this be OK?

This one might be a little silly but just wanted to check. My partner (unmarried, EU citizen) is looking for working in the area I am moving to, is she able to live with me as a "guest" for those 3 months, obviously registering with the canton in the first 14 days?

Thank you in advance!

Re: Moving to Vaud Canton from Germany

Household contents pretty much includes anything, certainly the things you mentioned will be fine. The six months ownership applies to cars and motorbikes; possibly if your e-bikes are of the more powerful sort that are classed as mopeds they might be included in this category, but the keyboard certainly won't need anything.

And yes, your friends won't have any issues comping over and helping you out with the move.

Thank you for the reply!

So if I were to buy some furniture between now and moving, would that be taxed or no?
