How to register with the canton

Hi everyone
Good news I got my B permit approved!
Coming in mid July

2 questions
1) for the criminal records check to be provided for registration at canton. can it be in english or do i need an official french translation? can it be dated from February?

2) to register my address - will an airbnb reservation for 1.5 months without letter from landlord or his ID be ok?

Thank you!

Congrats!

For the AirBnB check with the canton authorities because some cantons won't accept these type of bookings for registration purposes.

Mine was in English back in the day and it was accepted. You can always double-check with the canton to be sure. Also dated from February should be okay, because that's less than 6 months ago if you arrive in July.

I suspect if it is a long list of crimes committed they could want a legal translation. But if it only says that you are a saint, the English version should suffice.

Re: How to register with the canton

Hi cranewings,

May I know how long it took them to approve your B permit? When did your company apply for your permit?

The University HR applied for my B permit on June 12 and I recently submitted my Type D visa for entry on June 16 at the Swiss Embassy in London and they told me it could take up to 3 months

Although the Embassy told me 6 weeks is the minimum processing time I am looking at but it could be much longer.

Goodluck on your upcoming move!
