From B to G - possible consequences

Hi! I have been working in Switzerland from January 2016 and I have a contract that will end in July 2021.

I was hired with the request of moving to Switzerland since our place of work wasnít hiring anymore G workers. I wasnít too happy about it since Iím very close to the border but I complied even if I knew I was going to lose a good deal of money due to health issues and high rent in the area.

Last week, our office hired a new person that hold a G permit. Iíd like to ask HR if rules have changed and if I could switch to a G permit. But, what would be the consequences? I already know that Iíll be unemployed for a while since my line of work is quite niche and I donít want to end up in a worse situation than the current one.
