Non-EU with C-Permit Apply for Skill Shortage occupation visa to UK?

Hi Everyone,

I Live in Switzerland as Non EU with C permit. I have an Asian Passport.
I would like to apply for the Skill Shortage occupation visa to UK. In order to get a job experiences in a very specific field.

1. So if i do what will happen to my C permit in Switzerland?
2. In which office i have to check about it?
3. Can i return back and live in Switzerland after several years working in UK?
4. Any one already doing this?

The related old thread i found is here https://www.englishforum.ch/permits-...-c-permit.html

Thank you advance for helping.

Ask your commune. Your C permit can be put on hold for limited period of time. A maximum of two years I think.

Isnīt that only when you are sent to work abroad by your Swiss company (or military service and some other exception) and not when you take on a local job.

Re: Non-EU with C-Permit Apply for Skill Shortage occupation visa to UK?

It is possible in certain circumstances to put a C permit on hold for up to 4 years, but only your commune/gemeinde can say if your reasons are acceptable or not.

If you can't do that then you have to make a choice. Either stay here and work towards Swiss citizenship so you can then move elsewhere and still be able to return later or move to the UK and give up your C permit. If you move then you'd have to hope to get another employer here to apply for a new permit for you when you decide you want to try and move back here.

I would read up on the law first, they will tell you what they think are the rules, they are often wrong.

Here's quite a good summary, dated 30th November 2019 by Alexa Mossaz, immigration specialist, with references to the relevant parts of the law.
