Student visa rejection!

Hello everyone,

I was about to start my master studies at HSLU architecture program but I postponed my studies for the next semester because I received a full rejection from the immigration office of canton Aargau.

They stated in the email that the reason was that I already have a master's degree and therefore I do not fulfill the requirment for a study permission in Switzerland.

I explained in detail my reasons of continuing another proper master degree mentioning that this is the only diploma I have because I finished a 5+0 system program and I could not graduate as a bachelor. I also provided other reasons such as self improvement and a better background regarding the architectural education.

However, I still received a full rejection.
Does every canton has this criteria?
Are there students who already got a permit and have a masters degree just like my case?

What should I do now, apply in another canton?

Re: Student visa rejection!

Welcome to the Forum.

From what I've read here on EF, the authorities expect non-EU applicants to prove why they must study in Switzerland as opposed to somewhere else. If you already have a master's degree in the subject, they're not going to believe you need another one in the same or a similar subject. Sorry.

I doubt trying another canton will help. "Self-improvement" can be done with any degree obtained anywhere in the world.

Re: Student visa rejection!

Thank you for your reply,

I guess I am check mated here because my diploma is only recognizable in my country. I am not qualified to take projects internationaly because my diploma is not recognized in european countries except Germany.

I am in a position where my master's degree is not recognizable in international arena, and I can not obtain another one in european countries because I already have one.

All European countries? This is a Swiss rule. But just maybe you just had the right train of thought why you need a second master from a Swiss university.

PS: You should be bellow thirty to have any chance.
