In UK, Forgot my Permit in Switzerland

Am visiting the UK at the moment, just realised I forgot my B residency permit in the Switzerland... would there be an issue entering Zurich airport just on my UK passport?
Last time when I entered back in June the borders were still closed unless one is a citizen or residence, no one asked for my permit, but Swiss-ariline wanted to see the Permit ... am concerned now ! Anyone traveled recently? did they ask to see the permit?

There are currently no restrictions on travelling from the U.K. to Switzerland. Right now you are fine!

Re: In UK, Forgot my Permit in Switzerland

Can someone here scan your permit and email to you just in case for the airline? Upon arrival here the officer scans your passport and can see in the system that you have a B permit. If asked for it you can explain what happened.

In your shoes I would do that, it only takes a moment and it might come in handy.

I travel back and forth to the UK every week. I have NEVER been asked to show my B permit, even in these Covid Times.

(Disclaimer: did not travel when the Swiss borders were completely closed).

At Zurich I usually use the e-gates too, so not even a human interaction is necessary.

My understanding is your permit is in their system, and linked to your passport. I base this on a comment made by the border guard when I first started travelling. He asked how long I was staying in Switzerland and, confused, I blurted out "5 years, I have a B permit". He stared at his screen, laughed, and said "I know."

Regards

Ian

Me too; just take my passport, having had both my passport & permit stolen once; never again.

Once when I was challenged at Geneva airport on arrival, I told them that and they agreed with me and laughed. He also confirmed they could see my details too.

Re: In UK, Forgot my Permit in Switzerland

I have a (secured) pdf file on my phone/tablet with copies of all my important documents. Passports, ID cards, Health Insurance, Drivers license, credit cards, frequent flyer cards, etc.

Have consulted it a couple of times on my travels.

When I had a permit I always presented it at Swiss and Schengen immigration. But I was 3rd country, not EU. Oh wait ...

Problem when borders were shut was that you needed your permit to be allowed to board a plane to Switzerland. The airline staff in whichever country do not have your permit in their system. However right now, the borders are open to U.K. & EU citizens, so it’s not needed.

I've been asked for my B permit twice, once returning from Konstanz on a Flix bus 3yrs ago, and at Zurich airport last August when returning from Manchester. My flight had been delayed so arrived after 23:00 and the E-gates were closed. Once the 'b' thing is finally complete, I'll always carry my permit when travelling as advised by the UK Embassy in one of their roadshows.

Permit aside, you need to get back before Monday if you don't want to quarantine!
