Classification of "Lucrative Activity" for Permit B renewal

I'm completing the renewal of my B permit, and the section asking me to classify the scope of my work is confusing.

I work as a full-time employee for the Swiss arm (Siemens Industry Software GmbH) of a German company (Siemens AG).

The choices for my work are:

Erwerbstätigkeit im Ausland (Foreign Gainful Employment)
Selbständige Erwerbstätigkeit(Self Employed)
Übrige Erwerbstätigkeit (Other Gainful Employment)

None of those seem to apply, unless I'm over reading this, and the "Ausland" refers to "outside my home country" rather than "outside Switzerland".

Does anyone know what the appropriate box to check here is?

Ausland refers to outside Switzerland.

If you work for a Swiss based company it would be übrige Erwerbstätigkeit.

Thanks!

That seemed like the only thing that would fit, but my (Swiss) wife and I were confused that what has to be one of the more common things people are doing here (working for a Swiss company) doesn't have a selection of its own.

Appreciate the help.

Because it, in itself, is of no relevance. You just tick that it's not one of the other two.

Re: Classification of "Lucrative Activity" for Permit B renewal

Presume OP is making reference to this type of standard renewal form (issued in the day by what is now called SEM), available on Kanton Bern's website but not widely used across all cantons:

https://www.pom.be.ch/pom/de/index/m...egefta-dfi.pdf

This form details the type of stay available within the ZEMIS/SYMIC system with code numbers.

Indeed the gainful activity section groups the types of stay needing the least attention to migration authorities under 'other'.

All other options that have been highlighted (worker of a foreign administration, gainful employment abroad, self-employment etc.) need more careful analysis before granting/renewing a permit, which is why they are separated.

Looking at the form it must be "übrige Erwerbstätigkeit" because none of the other options apply!
