| | Family Reunion, Non-EU wife with German Resident Permit
Dear all,
I and my daughter are German nationals and my wife is currently a non-EU citizen, she has a German residence permit so she can travel and stay in Switzerland for a maximum of 3 months.
We are planning to move to Zürich next year in March due to my new job in Zürich.
Does my wife need to apply for a family reunion visa from Germany at the Swiss Embassy or is it possible to apply for a residence permit once we moved to Zurich at the local office?
Thanks in advance.

So you got your German nationality did you? Congrats.
See here for what's needed for EU nationals to bring their dependents to Switzerland. https://www.ch.ch/en/family-reunification-eu-efta | This user would like to thank Medea Fleecestealer for this useful post: | |

Thanks
Still from the requirements, I do not understand. do we need to apply in Germany at the Swiss Embassy? or we can move to Zürich since she has a german resident permit so she can travel to Switzerland without the need for any visa and apply directly at Migrationsamt in Zürich.

If you are now a German citizen:
You can move here and apply at the municipality once here. That's because you're now an EU citizen and fall under agreements Switzerland has with the EU.
If you didn't get the German citizenship:
You're still only a non-EU citizen and don't fall under special agreements. Therefore you apply at the Swiss Embassy in Germany.

I know EU citizens can apply to the municipality. I already mentioned in my post, I am an EU citizen.
I am asking for my wife. She is a non-EU citizen and currently living in Germany.

@haseeb,
Part of the reason why your query seems to be going in circles might be because Medea (and others) went back to see what else you'd posted on this forum, and found your other thread. https://www.englishforum.ch/permits-...itzerland.html
As I understand it, at the time you opened that thread (a year-and-a-half ago) you were not yet a German citizen, but now you are. If that's the case, perhaps you could ask the mods (3Wishes, who posted here, is a mod) to close your other thread, to avoid confusion.

Please do not mix up with my previous threads which were posted a year-and-a-half ago. @3Wishes please close/delete my previous threads if they are causing any confusion.
I was wondering if my wife can come along with me to Zürich and get a resident permit from the municipality of Zürich without any hassle of applying for a family reunion visa at the embassy. | Quote: | | | | | @haseeb,

As far as I understand she should apply for family reunification at the Swiss Embassy in Germany. She will have to wait until a Visa Type D is issued for her, then enter Switzerland and after that apply for a permit.
