B Permit for Holiday Home
Hello everyone - I've been reading this forum for a few months and its been jolly useful!
We are UK residents and about to take possession of a holiday home in the Bern canton. We have already got our second home permit and a mortgage all without difficulty.
It is our plan to rent out our house when we are not there, but looking at contents insurance and car leasing - everything asks for a either a B, C or L permit and no option without one. As I understand it, we don't actually need a B permit as we will never be in Switzerland for more than the prescribed time (mainly school holidays) and we are not working.
My wife, who is a lawyer, will however "work from home" in our holiday home remotely via the internet, but we won't earn Swiss income (except from any profits on our holiday home rentals).
As I further understand it, if we can provide proof of income and health cover we are entitled to a B permit.
My question therefore - is it worth applying for the B permit or is that a whole more hassle. If not, how do I find the right insurers?
