Transfer from Germany to Switzerland on German work contract

Hi

I'm considering a transfer from Germany to Switzerland with my current company. This is offered on a German contract not a Swiss one unfortunately.

What does this mean from a taxation perspective? I intend to live and work in Switzerland, and no longer keep a residence in Germany.

What happens with health insurance? Do I still need to pay into the German system at all? Is it more expensive to get Swiss health insurance as an expat?

Any other tips / gotchas appreciated.

The best way is contacting an accountant in Switzerland, in this way you will be able to have it for sure and not our guesses.

Search for Tarantino in Zurich.

Hope that helps

How is that supposed to work? If you live and work here, you will need a permit (for which you need an employment contract), you will need to pay taxes and social security. So yes, the place to ask is certainly your employer, and once they told you the set up, you can still come here and ask for opinions>

Does the employer have a legal entity in Switzerland and will you work for that entity?

OP said he will have a German contract.

OP: assuming you are an EU/EFTA national yes it is possible to reside in Switzerland whilst working for a foreign (EU/EFTA) entity, look it up it has been discussed before

What's your point?

For permit and social security, it's important if the OP will work for a Swiss entity. If the employer is not represented here, the situation is different.

Don't. Commute across the border. On a German salary, you won't be able to live here half as well as a border commuter.
