Post Brexit work query

Hi Guys

I am a British national and have been offered a position in Switzerland so will have a B permit due to commence employment April 2021

My husband is also a British national and will be joining me. For him to get employment in Switzerland, will his employer need to process a permit for him? Or can he work there on the basis of being my partner

Many thanks!

As a new Brit coming after 01.01.2021, have you been given approval for the issuance of your permit?

Your employer should apply for a permit for you (before you arrive) and also your husband as family reunification at the same time. If you don’t do that, your husband can’t come at all. Once that is sorted, your husbands future employer won’t have to go through the permit process.

Re: Post Brexit work query

Do not assume you will get a B permit. While the UK quotas do have more B's than L's (2,100 B's against 1,400 L's), there's no guarantee which one you'll be issued with. This might be a problem for your husband seeking work since with a B there isn't any problem while with an L any Swiss employer has to meet certain criteria to be able to hire him.

Don't make any assumptions until you get confirmation that you will in fact get a permit and the type. I'm talking about resignations, shipping your bits and bobs, rental contract here etc....

We have seen people loose financially in the past over these kind of assumption.

Re: Post Brexit work query

Hey guys

Quick update-

Just had a call with my employer, it will be a B permit for me and they have confirmed they will be applying at the same time for my husband and child

I have it my contract if for any reason I do not get the permit, I will be employed through our company here in the UK

So hoping now that I will be getting a B permit, it will be easier for my husband's employers in Switzerland

Regards
