Flying from the UK to CH in Feb to start employment

Hi All,

I am an Italian citizen currently living in the UK and I will start working in Nidwalden from the first of March (contract already signed). I need to fly from the UK to Switzerland in mid February (to allow for time for self-isolation and registration for a permit) but according to the website of the Swiss embassy in London only Swiss citizens, holders of a Swiss residence permit and holders of a “laissez-passer” issued by a Swiss representation are currently allowed to flight.

I was wandering whether anyone had a similar experience or have some advice on who I should contact/what should I do.

Thanks in advance!

You need to contact the Swiss Embassy in London to get a laissez-passer to enter Switzerland directly. Or you could fly to Milan and get the train.

As an Italian, you are free to travel to Italy.

Fly there and take the train from MilanoC to Lucerna, problem solved.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the reply. I have considered flying to Milan and then getting a train to Lucerne, but I am not sure it would be feasible as the Italian authorities would want UK arrivals to quarantine for 14 days there (transit does not seem to be an option).
