Live (register) in Austria, work "in" Switzerland?

With COVID, I am considering relocating to Austria and potentially registering my primary residence as there.

I have a Swiss pass so that will make things easier in some ways, no permit lottery to consider...! I will keep some kind of 2nd residence here.

I would have to inform my employer, I assume the money deducted at source for unemployment and other insurances will still be done and done in Switzerland?

Other things that might need attention are my leased car and health insurance.

Has anyone done this? It's a very 2020/2021 thing, I have not been in my office now for 330 days

Re: Live (register) in Austria, work "in" Switzerland?

We had a Swiss co-worker who lived in Italy and worked here, so certainly not a problem.

Car probably will be, however.

You will become a Grenzgänger then, assume with new permit. I know a few who do this from Germany and used come here for 4 days a week. Now off course they work from Germany.

You can certainly fo this, but you will become a tax resident of Austria. I assume you know the levels there. Social security stays in Switzerland as far as I know.

Tax residency I agree on, it's also comparable to the rate I get taxed here. Good to know about the social deductions, that keeps it simple(r).

But what are these permits you speak of? I don't need a permit in Switzerland to live nor work

As long as the location of the job is in CH, even if you work remotely, you will need a Swiss permit. G in that case.

Oh, are you an EU citizen?

Ok, I did not pay attention. Then of course that should be easy.
