Does the permit B come in the Post or do you pick it up?

My wife is Swiss, I signed all the documents for the Permit B, Health insurance - everything. The Canton said they approved it. Does it come in the mail or do you pick it up at the municipality?

Thanks everyone

Unless you have paid, you will have to collect it.

Depends where you live.

Some places post, some donít. Where I live they used to have you pick them up, then obviously someone tried to trick the system, now the police deliver them to your employer to check your contract is legit

Depends on the place. In AG they invited me to pick it up in Gemeindehaus, whereas in ZH they send it per Einschreiben.

Here in Geneva it comes in the post. Mine didn't even come certified, it was in a do-it-yourself letter that I had to cut and fold into the plastic envelope. My partner's permit came as a certified letter that he had to pick up in the post office.

Re: Does the permit B come in the Post or do you pick it up?

You get a letter/receipt from your local post office in your letter box. You need to take this letter along with your passport to the post office (address mentioned in the letter your got in your letter box).

You need to sign at the post office and collect your resident permit card. You can also collect your dependent's permit on their behalf.

Re: Does the permit B come in the Post or do you pick it up?

Same case as above for me in ZH. When I first arrived, I was in a temporary housing that doesn't have my name in the letter box (it's just something like apartment 5.1), they sent the receipt to the letter box, and asked me to pick it up from a post office.

Re: Does the permit B come in the Post or do you pick it up?

Ticino here. Both for my last Permit B and my last two Permit C's, I paid the bill when I went in for the bio information and photo. Got the permit 2 or 3 days later at the most via mail.
