Moving canton, possible to deregister / Register with 1 month gap?

Hello All,

I will move out of the current flat in Zuirch end of February, and new flat at Winterthur is availble in 01.April to move in. So my husband and I (we both have B permit) decided to go back Germany (his home) to live for the month of March (due to Covid pandamic we both can work from home)

My question is, can I deregister at ZH end of March, and inform gemeinde that after deregister we will travel out of country for 1 month and return for registering at Winterthur in early April?
Is it allowed for such "travel" or gap 1 month in between degister/register?
or I have to wait till end of March and drive back ZH for deregistration?

Thanks in advance

I personally would do this and see the short stay in DE as vacation.
Btw. there is no need to drive thousand of kilometers from Winterthur to Zurich. It can be done online: https://www.eumzug.swiss/eumzugngx/global

No, you have to be registered “somewhere” and paying health insurance etc. Have you get a friends address you can use for a month?

Re: Moving canton, possible to deregister / Register with 1 month gap?

Unless you're both Swiss, do not just deregister without supplying your next Swiss address and re-registering there within 14 days, or your residence permits will become void.
That's less of an issue if you're EU since you can easily get them back but it would still reset (or at least affect) the clock towards getting a C permit and Swiss citizenship if you care about that.

If you live in Zürich City, there seems to be a service to maintain your registration while you're temporarily out of the country.

When you deregister in Zurich, give them your new address in Winterthur. If you have a signed contract you're not breaking any laws and count the month away as a holiday.

Yeah, i think this is the best option, just go for 1 month vacation and come back end of March to deregister, so we have a clear cut.
Also I tried that online eumzug, but it is not successful and the new address is not recognised on this website. I asked Demeinde and they said in this case I hav to come in person
Thanks

You can also ask the City of Zurich Bevölkerungsamt what is the best way to proceed. Beter be safe than sorry and the are usually quite helpful.
