De-registering while abroad

I'm in Switzerland right now but my wife is abroad in the US. We have B-permits.

We are moving back to the US, and need to de-register from local authorities. But my wife is not here with me, so is there a way I can de-register her? I'm contacting the local office this week but wanted to hear others experiences too.

Thanks.
