| | Re: British national B permit in 2021(post brexit) | Quote: | | | | | I think we are both in very similar situations, my employer mentioned that they had success with a non-EU permit very recently actually so I took some confidence from that, in addition, the company I'm going to work for is of Swiss origin, employing over 3000, many of which are international. | | | | | If they managed to employ non-EU then they know what they're doing, I wouldn't sweat much, just wait | Quote: | | | | I can't remember exactly where I read it, but UK B permit quota is around 3000 for the year? I assume that is for new permits and not renewals of existing also? - can anyone confirm this? | | | | | Can't recall where I've read but yes, quota is just for first time issuing. https://www.sem.admin.ch/sem/en/home...0the%20cantons.
says for uk: 2,100 residence permits and 1,400 short-stay permits.
Croatia is at 250 for B and 2000 for L, so, quite the opposite
Re. job posting on the official portal, is this a specific swiss government website or does it also include platforms such as the employers website, linkedin and glassdoor?
Anyway, exciting times and my fingers are crossed for everyone![/QUOTE]

Me too - a surreal year for the job-hunt. Good luck too! Can’t wait to go back to GE.
Blacky, thanks for your advice.

| | Re: British national B permit in 2021(post brexit) | Quote: | | | | | Back in June 2013.
Offered relocation from uk to Zug.
HR had to show they had looked for a CH candidate for role.
Had a week in Zug in July to find apartment and sort out lease car.
Arrived from uk in September 2013.
Took rental agreement , contract of employment , passport, photos of myself and wife to Zug immigration office at 4pm.
In post next day at 8am a permit B for each of us.
They obviously processed my application on the spot or within hour of visit.
Worse part of experience was one person at desk and an Australian chap arguing with immigration person and holding things up.
He was moaning that having been in Switzerland for 7 years , returned to Oz for 2 years and now been back for 5 years should count as 10 years plus in Switzerland....
Could she make an exception for him | | | | | Thanks for your input Are you still in Zug? I've spent quite a lot of time there over the last 2 years or so.

Just checking in, sadly no material news yet! Signed contract returned 4 weeks ago, so probably 3 weeks since everything when to the authorities. I have an update meeting with my future employers next week, but it's still probably too early to expect anything!

Thanks | | | | | The point is that if you're British, your experience from 2013 is now totally irrelevant to people coming to CH in 2021 as you were an EU citizen then, subject to the EU permit process, and new arrivals are non-EU subject to the non-EU process.

My prospective employer only got back to me with a written contract the other day.
They asked me to submit my degree and educational certificate, a police certificate, an updated copy of my CV and a letter from my current employer to confirm I'm one of their employees. It's what the Geneva migration office required. I'm working on gathering all the necessary documents.
It looks like I'll be in Geneva by August if things go to plan but let's wait and see...

Meeting tomorrow with my new employers, I'll find out tomorrow if they've had news or not. My start date of May 1st is looking increasingly lofty! I think 1st of June may be more realistic...

Congrats! SEM was very quick to approve.
Yes, B permits for non-EU's are always renewed yearly unless they're not tied to the employer.

Wow, that’s quick. It looks like a good omen. But I don’t know if the Geneva migration office is that quick comparing to your canton. Good luck and congratulations again!
