C Permit (over 60 years old)

Last year I asked about applying for a C Permit. I have been in Bern for 5 years (originally from the US).
My ex-girlfriend spoke to someone in Immigration and she was told that because I am over 60 years old, I do not have a language requirement. I haven't been able to find this anywhere online. Does anyone know about this?
I am at the A2 level and working on getting to B1.

Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

Re: C Permit (over 60 years old)

I couldn't find a similar document from BE, but as an FYI in case this might help focus your search:

In canton ZH it is only applicants over 75 who are excused from the language requirement.

https://www.zh.ch/content/dam/zhweb/...ewilligung.pdf

Bei über 75-Jährigen wird kein Sprachnachweis verlangt. Bis zu dieser Altersgrenze muss der Sprachnachweis aber den üblichen Vorgaben genügen.

Looking at the list of exceptions to the language requirement in the federal legislation (Art 77f, VZAE), I could not find a mention of an age cut off either.

---

There are others on this forum who know far more than I do on the subject, hopefully one of them will come along soon with better information.

If you have a certificate for A2, then you meet the language requirements for the C permit already. B1 is for naturalisation.
