Understanding my L work permit

Hi all,

I am currently in a complex situation and need some advice please...

I currently have an L permit - to work with a private family as a 'live-in' domestic helper the Kanton of Zug.

If I find that there are issues with this family and I no longer wish to work for them / or mutually agree to terminate the contract - would I need to give up the L permit (and have to re-apply for another permit) or could I transfer myself to another employer within Zug with this permit?

Thanks

HotSpurs

Re: Understanding my L work permit

If you're not an EU/EFTA citizen your L permit will be strictly tied to the employment with that family and you will have to leave Switzerland if that doesn't work out, you won't be able to switch employers.

Otherwise you can switch freely and you can get a 3 (or was that 6?) month L permit for job hunting in between jobs.

What passport do you have ? That is the key to knowing which permit it is.

How long is your contract ?

If you are working as a Nanny then you can talk to the Swiss Nanny Association. They are really very active and can help you if your work situation is not good...

Thanks for the advice so far.

So I have a British passport and my contract I think states until December 2021 - until the permit needs to be renewed.
